The Central Agora is located on the plain at the southern end of the Parliament Building and Harbor Street. It has been largely destroyed due to the reuse of many building blocks in the construction of the walls of Late Antiquity. Only the north gate of the West Stoa, part of the West Stoa and a very short section of the East Stoa have survived.

The Agora is surrounded by the most important public buildings of the city, such as the Theatre, the Assembly Building, the Harbor Road, the Baths of Nero, the Gymnasium and the Latrina. Despite the intense destruction, much information has been preserved about the plan and architectural elements of the Agora.

Only the architecture and plan of the western and eastern stoas of the quadrangular agora are intelligible. The existence of a stoa connection to the north, in harmony with the façade of the Bath of Nero, is also foreseen. Although its exact length in the north-south direction is unknown, the length of the surviving central colonnade of the West Stoa has been measured as 120 meters.

The West Stoa has two rows of colonnades facing east and its main entrances are located to the north and south. The north entrance has two passages and is 13.56 meters wide. Its architectural layout and the materials used are similar to those of the Harbor Street and the East Portico. The facade columns of the stoa have Ionic order, while the interior columns have Corinthian order. Fluted white marble columns were used behind the granite facade columns.

The width of the agora in the east-west direction was measured to be 77 meters. The stylobate and the northern beginning of the East Stoa show that it has a similar architectural layout to the West Stoa. However, unlike the West Stoa, the East Stoa has a single sectional plan, and its width is seven meters. It is likely that the upper part was covered with a sloping roof. The gate of the East Stoa opens directly south of the Baths of Nero.

Behind the East Stoa, a latrina was built next to the back wall of the stoa. It is thought that the entrance of the latrina was probably integrated with the entrance of the East Stoa.

There is no information about the southern part due to severe destruction. However, it is possible that there was a stoa in this area connecting the eastern and western stoas as in the north.

Approximately in the middle of the agora there is a monumental base with a square plan measuring 4.5 × 4.5 meters. Its location and the workmanship on its base suggest that this monument was erected in honor of a person or persons important to Patara. This monument may belong to a god/goddess, a hero or an important person who served the city.
